Employee Highlight: Christy Castille
- Why did you decide to start working with Louisiana USA?
I was searching for a job in the financial field because I had previously worked as a Head Teller at Hibernia, which is now Capital One. Louisiana USA was looking for a Head Teller at the time, and when I came to interview I felt very comfortable and felt like it would be a great fit for me.
- Why is Louisiana USA different than other places you have worked?
I truly feel like my co-workers are my friends and family. They’re not just people I work with. We all care about each other and we do things together outside of work. I also feel like the atmosphere here is very laid back and accommodating. Whenever we have to bring our children or other family members to doctor’s appointments or take off because someone is sick, we are told to take care of ourselves or our family members without hesitation. I appreciate being able to take care of my child without feeling like I’m going to be in trouble for missing work. Additionally, I have formed relationships with my members. It’s important to know your members and offer products that will benefit them and the credit union has given me the opportunity to help our members in the best way possible.
- How long have you worked in the financial industry?
I have been in the financial industry for 19 years and I have held many different positions. I’ve done everything from Teller to Member Services to now being a Loan Officer.
- What is something interesting/fun about you?
I always used to say that I wanted to live in New York City and that I’d live in the middle of Times Square if I could. However, as I’ve gotten older I have learned to appreciate a slower-paced lifestyle. While I more than likely won’t ever live in New York City, I hope to visit there one day. My other “bucket list” place to visit is New Zealand. I saw a video in elementary school that showed some of the landscape there and I just remember it being so beautiful.
